Applications are due March 26th, 2024.

Hollis Brookline Dollars for Scholars usually awards two different types of scholarships, but this year we have also added a third scholarship, the Jim and Jan Squires Community Scholarship.

Our new scholarship is the Jim and Jan Squires Community Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to one or more students graduating from Hollis Brookline High School who have shown an eagerness to volunteer in the greater community and give the greatest gift of all - their time. Award recipients would demonstrate an intellectual curiosity about the world and an interest in giving back to make a mark in their own unique way. Applicants should have high financial need, significant community involvement, and a GPA of 3.0 or above.

The Hollis Brookline Dollars for Scholars scholarship is awarded to students graduating from Hollis Brookline High School who exhibit excellence in a variety of ways. Applicants should have excellent academic credentials, leadership in extra-curricular activities, and community service/involvement.

The William E. and Lorraine W. Dubbens scholarship is awarded to students who reside in Brookline, NH who do not necessarily excel in academics, but who demonstrate a motivation to achieve their potential and become community leaders. This scholarship was started in 1999 by the estate of William and Lorraine Dubbens. Bill and Raine were very involved with young people, and their favorite students were those who may have struggled with significant challenges in their personal, family, or academic life during high school, but who are motivated to pursue their passions in college. They felt that "you get back what you give out" and this scholarship was started for such students. Recipients may reapply each year until college is completed. This scholarship is awarded by the Hollis Brookline Dollars for Scholars chapter, a community-based, non-profit organization. We are your neighbors and friends who believe in the promise of young people and education. Applicants for this scholarship may attend any high school or be home-schooled.

Funding for the Dubbens Scholarship was provided by the William E and Lorraine W Dubbens Scholarship Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. Established in 1962, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is driven by a vision for a stronger, more just, and resilient Granite State. In pursuit of this vision, the Foundation invests charitable assets for today and tomorrow; connects donors to effective organizations, ideas and people; and leads and collaborates on important public issues. Annually, the Foundation awards nearly 5,000 grants and scholarships totaling $30 million. Based in Concord, the Foundation roots itself in communities across the state through its staff, board of directors, and eight regional advisory boards.
